Lawsuits

Though officially, the law in most democracies is same for everyone,  usually big companies have a lot of resources at their disposal.

This makes it difficult for small companies or an individual to take legal action against the company even if they have been wronged. 

This is particularly true for employees who need references  from their previous employer for getting their next job.
